Class Overview's
Sixth Grade Science
The core of our study in Sixth Grade is the Integrated iScience Textbook and Online materials from McGraw Hill Education. This will lead to hands on discovery (the most important method in my opinion) such as labs, projects and activities. Because all of our core materials are based online we will be using technology on an almost daily basis. In addition we will use interactive notebooks to help students develop their note taking skills.
Major areas to be covered will include: Methods of Science, Exploring Earth, Exploring Life, Understanding Matter, Understanding Energy and Engineering.
In the past I have had the chance to have my students complete special projects such as a High Altitude Ballon Launch with Fort Hays State University.

3D Printing
3DPE (3D Printing Exploration) : Get ready to explore the world of 3D. We will dive into the creation process using programs like Tinkercad. Through designing 3D printing projects, students will increase their planning, critical thinking, reasoning, and creative skills. Students will also develop strong communication and collaboration skills as well as practice visualization and decision making. By the end of the quarter students will know how and when to use 3D printing technology and how to choose appropriate tools. Students will also learn the importance of perseverance in the design cycle. Above all, we will have a ton of fun designing and bringing to life our very own 3D imaginings.
